Tract books of land sold within Palestine District, ca. June 1820-February 1873.

Land sales were entered in tract books by legal description, presumablly to ensure that any given tract was not sold more than once. Entries for each tract sold include legal description of tract, name and residence of purchaser, date sold and number of acres. Tract books also include lands that became part of Danville District when it was created in 1831 but were sold 1822-1831 and entered in these tract books at Palestine Land District Office. After August 14, 1855, tracts within Palestine District were sold at Springfield Land District Office.
